DENON AH-D1001K

The AH-D1001K model offers a great sound and superb musical resolution along with an impressive sound accuracy. The D1001K's highs are well-extended with little detectable smoothlessness while the bottom-end bass response is full and punchy without bloating consistency. The headphone is actually a fabulous one given its sealed-cup design and highly science applied supra-aural earpad sizing. Pairing this can with any quality headphone amplifier for fully maximized clarity, dynamic range 'quickness', and an authoritative tonal presentation; otherwise, depending on your audio source, there's a chance the D-1001 may not reveal its surprising sonic potential, especially with weaker mobile audio devices like MP3 players or iPods. But even without an amp along for the ride, expect this little can to offer eye-opening sound quality and top-notch wearing comfort that rates about the best in the mid-sized 'sealed earpad headphone' category.

The DENON AH-D1001 comes in matte-grey on brushed gun-metal look that is keen on elegant-looking. The extreme lightweight frame headband on this offers good sizing adjustments, with a locking mechanism that allows the band to expand to fit listeners of all head sizes quite well; it's sure a comfortable feel on the head. The D1001 mid-sized supra-aural earcups seats gently on the outer part of the earlobes for most listeners and the deep black smooth glove-pleather earpads offer great comfort even during long listening sessions. The isolation is decent but will not completely attenuate all ambient noise due to the smaller earpad sizing and the loose comfartable fit. Still, the D1001 does provide respectable "leakage" protection from the earcups to the outside world. Allowing a minimum of 50-100hrs of 'burn-in' play time for the headphone to sound is the best. The headphone cord is a standarized unit arrangements; a 3.5ft non-detachable Y-cord extends from the headphones and a 6 ft extension cord is provided in the packaging allowing for approximately a 3 meter cable. The cord ends to a 3.5mm (1/8") mini-plug.
